That’s right, American group DTMG (Dave Tauler Music Group), has been bitten by the Kpop bug. DTMG is an ever-changing collective of musicians and artists who work interchangeably to address a variety of musical styles and genres. With a list of accolades a mile long, it’s easy to understand how impressive DTMG is to the average American Kpopper.
The group’s leader and mastermind, Dave Tauler, has spent a lifetime perfecting his musical career. DTMG’s multi-talented leader speaks three languages (English, Korean, Spanish) and plays 28 different musical instruments. He’s also been the winner of both the John Lennon Songwriting Award and Amateur Night at the world renowned Apollo Theater.
Tauler’s list of accomplishments doesn’t just end there. He not only won Amateur Night, but also went on to compete for the title of Super Top Dog, Amateur of the Year as well. Tauler’s songwriting has been featured in the off-Broadway production of Faces. He’s performed with Kim Bum Soo, the first Kpop artist to ever chart in the US, and was a judge at Korean American Teens singing competition in DC that saw the singing debut of Park Yoochun, known globally of course as Micky of the Kpop legend DBSK/TVXQ.
Why are U.S. Kpop fans so excited about DTMG? The above photo says it all. Tauler recently came across YG Entertainment‘s super group 2ne1‘s music video of their smash hit Lonely and was captivated. He was so moved by the song that he endeavored to pay the song and the artists the highest respect by creating an original neo-soul remix of Lonely in their honor. The remix was released for Valentine’s Day via DTMG’s official YouTube today.

a concept video that meltingearth calls a “sync video”; originally created with a “click” track (metronome) in the left channel so that a drummer & band can play live to this video and stay in time - this demo version includes the stereo track as well as some sound FX (originally in the right channel so they could be added to the house mix of the band).
originally produced by P3T3RK3Y5 at the request of a friend to be used for the opening of a new church facility - it has since received a lot of attention.
the song is of course Chris Tomlin’s version of Indescribable - and the lyrics are very literal (not very metaphorical - e.g. a river is a river, not freedom). i really tried to stretch the video story in new directions. Much of my inspiration is from Brian Green’s Book “The Elegant Universe” (…if you can think of a more God-glorifying name for a book than that - let me know!!)… but also based on my own training. e.g. the cool looking formula’s you see are “Maxwell’s Equations”, and they govern everything about light electricity and magnetism - or “electro-magnetic fields”. I studied those four equations for two semesters in my undergrad engineering coursework, but didn’t get a very good grade from my “fields” teacher.
Melting Earth has many more idea’s for sync videos - but the start up costs for producing these is astronomical. Would you like to see more??? Let us know!!!
